Pamela Burleson | 3rd-12th Music

First Year at ACA: 2025

Pamela Burleson grew up in a musical home and loved music from a young age. Her earliest musical memories include singing (perhaps a bit too loudly) in church and watching broadcasts of operas and musicals on PBS. She studied piano with her mother in elementary school, and when she was twelve, her father started her on French horn.

She studied both voice and horn for two years at University of Alaska, Fairbanks,

then transferred to The Boston Conservatory to study horn with David Ohanian. After earning her Bachelor of Music in French Horn performance, Pam moved to Houston to study horn with William Vermeulen and earn her Master’s degree from Rice University.

Pam met and married her husband Andrew in Houston, and they stayed there for four more years. During that time, Pam subbed with the Houston Symphony and Houston Grand Opera, and taught private lessons and masterclasses. In 2012, Pam joined the North Carolina Symphony, where she played for five years as the Assistant Principal/Utility horn and eventually joined the music faculty at the University of North Carolina.

After their second daughter was born, Pam was interested in taking a break from music to stay home with their girls. Pam and Andrew followed his job to San Francisco, then Austin. They had two more children along the way. After COVID they had the opportunity to move to Denver, a place they’ve both always loved, and hope to stay.

Pam has been the French horn coach at Wonder Homeschool Day for the past two years, and is now thrilled to be joining the faculty at Augustine Classical. She loves teaching music, and sees our voices as gifts from God to be used for His glory, our joy, and the encouragement of others.
