Hilary oswald | director of grammar school

First Year at ACA: 2014

Hilary Oswald is an organizational leader with 20 years' experience guiding and developing teams, especially in nonprofit and journalism roles. As she covered education, both K-12 and higher ed, early in her career, she simultaneously learned about the classical, Christian model and began to understand it as a beautiful and hopeful method of educating children that shapes students into people who love God, love others, solve problems, seek and apply wisdom, and communicate clearly. Since then, Hilary has seen the fruit of this time-tested approach to teaching and learning in her own children, Hadley (9th) and Harrison (6th), who have been students at ACA since their preschool days.

Originally from Naples, Florida, Hilary earned a B.A., magna cum laude, in English literature and composition from Davidson College and a M.S. in Journalism from the Medill School at Northwestern University. She has held editorial and leadership roles at Apple Computer, Cornell College, 5280 Publishing, and as a leadership and communications consultant for several dozen organizations. Hilary also served on ACA's Board of Directors from 2013-2023. She and her husband, Jason, have been married for more than 20 years and together, the Oswalds love to host friends in their home, travel to new and old places, read good books and talk about them, and ski when it's sunny and 40 degrees on the mountain.
