ACA believes that practice makes permanent. Therefore beautiful practices makes permanent beauty. We want our students to practice movement, teamwork and loving their neighbors
in the classroom and within the sports teams they join.

Our students learn through athletics that excellence is a habit born out of practice, and therefore, they strive to imitate the coaches, mentors, and teachers that model excellence.

How Can ACA Students Compete in High School Athletics?

Augustine Classical Academy is building its own high school athletics program. Until our teams are fully established, Colorado state law provides a way for ACA students to play sports at neighboring schools.

What Does This Mean for ACA Students?

If ACA does not offer a specific high school sport, your student can play that sport at another school without having to leave ACA.

Under Colorado law (C.R.S. § 22-32-116.5), students whose school does not offer a sport may participate at:

  1. A public school in their home school district.

  2. A nearby public school (if their home district does not offer the sport).

  3. A nonpublic school, if that school agrees to accept the student.

Requirements and Expectations

  • School Standards: Students must meet the host school’s academic, behavioral, attendance, and practice requirements.

  • Fees: Host schools may charge non-enrolled students a participation fee up to 150% of the fee charged to their own enrolled students.

  • Tryouts & Cuts: Participation is subject to the host school's tryout process. Playing at another school does not guarantee a roster spot if the sport makes cuts.

  • CHSAA Rules: Students must meet all state athletic association (CHSAA) eligibility guidelines and complete their online registration before tryouts.

How It Works in Practice

If an ACA student wants to compete in football, wrestling, swimming, volleyball, or any sport ACA doesn't offer, the family works with ACA Athletics to find the right host school and submit the necessary forms.

Note: This is not a school transfer. The student remains fully enrolled at ACA and simply represents the host school on the field or court.

In addition, CHSAA permits cooperative athletic programs, where two or more schools combine student bodies to field a single team (such as for lacrosse, swimming, or boys volleyball).

Our Goal:

This pathway is a temporary bridge, not the final destination. As ACA grows, our goal is to offer our own teams, coaches, facilities, and leagues so students can compete for Augustine.
